Dr. Branstetter's talk discusses the development of mining culture and its connection to three periods of time when the town's independence was threatened by federal government intervention: the labor "troubles" of the late 19th century; the so-called "North Idaho Whiskey Rebellion" of 1929; and the FBI raid of 1991.
